Steps for painting glass fiber composites

A composite material is a mixture of different fibers bonded together by a hardening resin. Depending on the application, the composite may or may not be painted. Lacquering is a good way to restore or change the color of a composite after the original finish has faded.
The best method of painting depends on the type of material in the composite. The following is a step of lacquering a glass fiber material.
1. Fill holes or defects with fiberglass putty. Use a putty knife to smooth the putty. Let it fully recover.
2. Sand and sandpaper (100 grit) to remove excess putty or paint. After the composite is relatively smooth, switch to 800 sandpaper sand until the material surface is very smooth. You can use the track or sand to polish it by hand.
3. Remove dust, grease, and debris with a dry rag and acetone.
4. Use a primer. Most of the initial work plaids are made on the glass, but it is best to find the most suitable paint in the paint shop. Wait for about two hours until the primer is dry.
5. Spray, or the last layer of paint brushed with a brush. Wait until the paint is dry.
6. Use another layer of paint or apply a clear coat. Always use a clear coating to cover the last layer; this will seal the paint and help protect the paint's elements.
As with other paint chopped strand mats, adequate preparation is the key to a good appearance and long-lasting paintability of the composite.
Use your product in accordance with the recommended safety precautions. For example, wear gloves when working with fiberglass. When using bleach, wear bleaching liquid protective gloves and wear protective glasses when working with fiberglass.
